The famous remains of Leptis magna (Libdah) lies on the Mediterranean coast at Libdah valley falls which is nature harbour 3 km east from Khoms city, approximately one hour east of Tripoli by road, you will discover the rooted city.
The foundation of the magnificent harbour of the Leptis city was attractive merchants and seamen among the conaamite during their trips in the Mediterranean become one of the famous harbours, it was called Leptis magna in order to distinguish it from other city sharing the same name in Gulf of Gabes (Tunisia).

Leptis magna flourished in the early Roman Empire particularly under the rule of Septimous Severus(193-211) and his family until 235.
